Photos of the Mazda CX-4 have leaked ahead of the crossover’s official debut.
The Japanese automaker earlier teased photos of the new CX-4 and now a Chinese website has released photos of it in its entirety. As expected, the Mazda CX-4 looks like a sportier version of the CX-5 thanks to its lower and longer profile. The model will reportedly be exclusive to the Chinese market at launch, but we would be shocked if the Japanese automaker didn’t bring it to North America.
The front of the new Mazda CX-4 is a more streamlined version of the CX-5 and, according to the Chinese website
Netease, it shares its wheelbase with the CX-5 but is around four inches longer and five inches lower. The company previewed the CX-4 with the Koeru concept and it stays true to its design.
On the particular model spied, it sports a 2.5 AWD badge, hinting that it will likely be powered by the same 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine found in the Mazda3, Mazda6 and CX-5. The website also says that Mazda intends to add a 2.0-liter four cylinder to the lineup, but it’s unclear if that mill will head to the U.S.
The Mazda CX-4 will make its official debut at the 2016 Beijing Motor Show this July.
